MediLog
Spring 2023
Interaction II
Challenge
Remembering to take multiple medications can be difficult, and research has shown that nearly 50% of people struggle to take their medication as prescribed. On average, 25% of people in the United States take three or more medications daily.
Outcome
MediLog helps people track/check off medications when taking them, which would help prevent forgetting medications and confusion about which medications have already been taken. The application would also keep a history of the medications taken and create a log that would benefit the users later if they want to refer back to it. It would allow users to keep all their information private using password protection before entering the app.
Initial information gathering
(Secondary research)
Existing apps have already been developed to help people track and remember to take their medication. However, I wanted to learn more about the number of people who take prescription medication daily versus those who take vitamins or supplements.
Learning opportunity through benchmarking
Since apps have already been developed to help people track their medications, I was able to choose a couple to review.
I reviewed two different apps and was able to go through all the features of the apps and learn which ones were helpful versus which may not be needed, not intuitive, or missing.
Task flow and information architecture
I created user flow charts to help me understand and define the app's task abilities. I also created an information architecture to help me determine how many interfaces I would need to complete each task and other features.
